Schedule Children’s Book Author Visits!

Children’s Book Author and Illustrator Available For Your Classroom

As a children’s author, I love meeting children, and it’s my experience that children love to meet me!

I can present to small groups as well as large assemblies. Her presentation is most suitable for grades three through six and includes the following:

  • Visuals of some of her childhood writing and being an author
  • The inspiration behind each of her books
  • How authors use real-life events in fiction stories
  • How she draws all the pictures for her children’s book
  • Her all-time favorite, sure-fire writing technique with plenty of student involvement
  • Ten to fifteen minutes of Q&A with students
  • Worksheets for teachers to use for following up in the classroom.

I offer a variety of programs and am open to mixing, matching and brainstorming with you. My goal is to work with you on aligning my books and presentation with your goals or to have my presentation be in sync with topics you are working with your students on, as well as tying it into your curriculum needs.

VIRTUAL VISITS

Lynn Page is available for virtual visits globally through Zoom. Visits usually run around 45 minutes but can be tailored depending on a school or teacher’s needs. Virtual visits can also be booked for homeschooling and book clubs. Free 10-minute Q & A virtual sessions are also available. While it’s not quite like being together in person, lots can be shared through virtual meetings!

For the complete 45-minute program, fees are per presentation. A technical run-through can be very helpful before the actual “visit.” No recording of virtual sessions is allowed without prior permission.

STORYTIME with Lynn C. Page

This 20-minute (or 60-minute) program includes an introduction, a reading of my books, and a brief Q & A with the kids. Book me for one or weekly if you wish to do these virtually. I have 3+ books to share! The first one is free if you book me for any of my programs below. If you’d like me for an in-person storytime, it’s an hour program, and I would read 3-4 of my books along with a Q&A.

LIBRARY STORYTIME

Librarians already know how influential they are in the reading ecosystem. A visit with an author or illustrator is a wonderful way to connect children—and their families—with the magic of books and reading. I will show my written rough and illustrator’s drafts and then read aloud the final book!  The students will be able to ask me questions about the process!

To support the library visit, I will create flyers that I can put up at the library and kid-friendly places and share with local schools.  I’d also be sharing that flyer/announcement on my Facebook and Instagram account pages, and adding suitable hashtags, to try to capture the attention of wider audiences.

NUTS AND BOLTS:

I will make up to three presentations in one day. My presentations are generally about 45 minutes long. Workshops may run a bit longer, and presentations to Pre-K groups are usually shorter. I will use PowerPoint if appropriate or show a portfolio of original art and photographs. I prefer to use a microphone for talks to larger audiences.

I am based in Sugar Land, TX, and consider visits in all counties and in the Greater Houston area “local.” For “out of town” visits, I request compensation for my travel and accommodation expenses in addition to my fee. I recognize that inviting an author to your school or library can be expensive, and I am open to discussing ways to make it happen if your budget is small.

I AM AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR LYNN C PAGE

I am available for school visits, library programs, workshops, conferences, and bookstore & book fair appearances. I tailor my programs to my audience and have presented to all ages, from infants to adults.

When speaking with young children, I keep my points simple – where ideas come from, how words and pictures can tell stories about our lives, and using a camera and collage. With older children and grownups, I talk more technically about what I do and discuss the many steps involved in taking a project from idea to finished book. Whatever the age of the audience, I devote time towards the end of my presentation to questions. Please contact me with questions or to discuss availability.

Lynn C. Page, Author of The La-La and Friends Series of Books and Founder of Pagegirl101 Publishing.
